GONE are the days when women are expected to stay at home and tend to the household. Now, mothers are also career women, juggling between home, office, as well as “me time” for much needed night outs with friends or a simple relaxation alone.
To keep up with their busy lifestyles, women responsibly take the time for health and wellness, which includes activities like exercise, shopping for the right foods, and participating in outdoor activities.
One testament is Carbtrim’s recently concluded “Bull Runner, All Women Race” that highlighted the female power and her ability to race against life’s challenges. In this event, women were seen as household rulers and responsible workers.
The unique event recently held at Filinvest City in Alabang, is a fitting tribute to the extraordinary women who relentlessly strive to give their best at all times. Joining the event was Sen. Pia Cayetano, who is also an avid runner who embodies a well-rounded woman of power and grace.
“Running itself is empowering women, because it gives them an opportunity to do something out of ordinary. Unless you’re an athlete, a lot of women did not really grow up running,” the senator remarked.
There were over 1,000 runners who participated in the all-female race, bringing their strength and endurance to the test while running under the 5-, 10- or 21-kilometer categories. The youngest participant was an eight-year-old who joined the 5 km category, while the most senior was a 67-year-old leisure runner who joined the 21-km category.
The excitement of the all-female race rubbed off to celebrities who took time out from their busy schedules to be part of the fun-filled race. Besides Sen. Cayetano, also seen running down the tracks were Suzy Entrata-Abrera, Iya Villania and husband Drew Arellano, as well as Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan with husband Anthony Pangilinan.
Although the race included husbands, they were required to wear pink tutus when they hit the track. As expected, their presence brought non-stop laughter during the competition. “It’s nice to see men supporting women in their tutus,” quipped Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan.
The top finisher for the 21-km run is Keshia Fule, who clocked in at 1:41:58, followed by Belle Grandinetti with 1:49:01, and on third is Mariela Martinez-Powell at 1:50:15. For the 10-km, top finisher is Nikki Givens with 53:56 followed by Kaye Lopez with 56:41 and Liza Paule at 57:07.
For the 5-km categroy, Sofia Bianca Cuevas came in first with a time of 22:13, followed by Genevieve dela Pena with 22:22 and Rosemarie Dellova 22:28.
The 21-km finishers received charm bracelets from dashing male models as they crossed the finish line, while 10-km and 5-km finishers received glamorous feather boas.
