The first NCCA GADTimpalak (Gender and Development Contest), a project of the NCCA Gender Focal Point System (NCCA-G,FPS) received a total of 104 entries for the three categories.

Among all the entries, sixty finalists were named for the essay writing contest, fifteen for the photography contest and eleven (11) for the documentary/film category. The full list is available for viewing at the NCCA website (ncca.gov.ph)

Twelve winners will be named, one winner per category per island cluster, including NCR, and will win P15,000 in prize. Winners will be officially notified by the NCCA –GFPS Secretariat and will be invited to Manila, all travel expenses paid by NCCA, to receive their recognition and to attend the public screening and opening of the photo exhibit of the winning entries at the NCCA Building on December 10

NCCA GFPS came up with GADTimpalak in order to encourage the participation of the cultural workers, artists and cultural organizations in promoting gender equality. This move is spurred by the absence of initiatives to mainstream GAD in the culture and arts sector, primarily caused by lack of campaign materials.

GADTimpalak was approved and endorsed by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW).
