THE Competition Section of the Osaka Asian Film Festival is now accepting film submissions until November 21.
In addition to films produced in Asia, the festival now welcomes the entry of any feature-length films related to Asian people or countries and regions.
Among the selected films to be screened during the festival in March, an international jury will select the Grand Prix (the Best Picture Award, with cash prize of 500,000 yen) and the Most Promising Talent Award (with cash prize of 200,000 yen), and other awards.
The film Shift, directed by Siege Ledesma and starring Yeng Constantino and Felix Roco, won the Grand Prix (Best Picture) in its 2014 edition. Another Philippine entry, Sigrrid Andrea Bernardo’s Huling Cha-Cha ni Anita (Anita’s Last Cha-Cha) garnered a Special Mention in last year’s festival.
The Osaka Asian Film Festival aims to promote the city as gateway for Asian films and to engage people from the fields of culture, art, education, tourism and business.
It also aims to facilitate human resources development and exchange, to invigorate the Osaka economy, and to increase the city’s appeal through providing opportunities to watch excellent Asian films, supporting filmmaking in Osaka and attracting filmmakers from Asian countries and regions to Osaka.
Now on its tenth edition, the Osaka Asian Film Festival will be held from March 6 to 15, 2015.
