How to connect with our inner child

A large part of who we are can be traced back to our childhood — the things that bring us joy, the patterns we have in our lives, and what triggers us.

Morgan Migliorisi advises there are no rules to inner child healing; all that’s required is a desire to heal, an open heart and the courage to push through.

A fascinating area, the world’s most renowned psychologists and psychiatrists including the famed Carl Jung, studied the concept of childhood for years and link it to how we respond to the world around us as adults. If our inner child is healthy, we relate to the world in a positive way and conversely, if our inner child is unhealed or traumatized, we have a negative perception of ourselves and those around us.

Intuitive guide, spiritual healer, and one of my closest friends, Morgan Migliorisi’s own inner child healing journey began last year sparked by her working with her clients.

“My work allows me to spend a lot of time observing the inner worlds of my clients as well as myself. Inner child healing was a theme that constantly kept coming up for everyone. I was facing some issues in my personal life and through meditation, I began connecting with my own inner child.”

It was through this process that Morgan discovered very important missing links. “I say missing links because I was not previously aware of these patterns or blocks and I was blown away by how things my adult self did not see as important actually impacted my child self profusely. After these discoveries, I knew I had to help my clients figure out how to identify these missing links within themselves.”

Morgan helps clients discover and heal their inner child in various ways including but not limited to group and one-on-one hypnosis sessions, a digital mini course, meditation exercises, and affirmations.

When asked why inner growth healing is important, she thoughtfully responds, “The biggest benefit of inner child healing is growth. When we finally make those connections as to why we are triggered when someone does something, or why we react in a certain way when something happens, or why we can’t seem to attract abundance, no matter how hard we work, healing occurs.”

She continued, “We finally understand our core beliefs and we see how they have benefitted or been detrimental to us throughout our lives. From there, we have a choice: we can continue to operate in outdated patterns, or we can learn from our experiences and grow. It takes a lot of strength and courage to go within ourselves and make the changes necessary to evolve, but it is absolutely worth it.”

She then advises how best to heal one’s inner child, since this world is truly vast.

“There are so many ways you can connect with and heal your inner child. Some of the top methods are through hypnosis/meditation, journaling, making time to play (do things that are fun to you), and working with affirmations.

“There really are no rules to inner child healing. All that’s required is a desire to heal, an open heart, and the courage to push through parts of your healing that may be challenging. When embarking on this journey, allow your inner child to lead the way by choosing exercises and practices that sound exciting to you! This will ease you into the experience and ensure the healing you receive is long-lasting.”
