Witness how the wonders of dance can challenge the spectators to rethink their perceptions of time in “Seconds and Minutes,” a showcase of contemporary dance vignettes that will narrate diverse experiences an individual can encounter while passing time.

The show, which aims to transform the preconceived notions of waiting as inconvenience into a pleasant and enjoyable process, is a thesis production to be staged on March 5 and 6 at the Black Box Theater of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) School of Design and Arts (SDA) Campus.
“Seconds and Minutes” is directed and choreographed by Bachelor of Performing Arts (BPAD) major Mariella Lia Carlos, a School of Design and Arts scholar whose promising skill in her craft earned her a full scholarship at the Academy One Music and Dance Center in Parañaque in 2013. He also earned an opportunity to perform at various events including the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet International Gala and Ballen Manila-NCCA International Dance Day Festival in 2015.
She was likewise a part of Mel O’Callaghan’s performance art Respire, Respire as part of the “What Lies Within: Centre of the Centre” exhibition of the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MCAD) in 2019. Carlos also co-choreographed a piece entitled “Butterfly,” which was staged at the Asia Pacific Dance Conference at the University of Hawaii in 2019.
“Seconds and Minutes” will spotlight the outstanding performances by Benildean Dance Program’s homegrown talents and Hong Kong Challenge Cup Dance Competition 2019 gold medal awardees Stella Estriber, Florencio de Guzman 4th, Erika Arandez and Brixmond Utrera.
