Young actor is now world vision ambassador for disaster risk reduction
Television celebrity Miguel Tanfelix has always been adventurous but with his designation as World Vision Philippines Ambassador for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), he realizes the need to be more cautious even in his daily activities, and thereby inspire the youth to play an active role in being prepared for emergencies and ultimately help promote a stronger community.
“Thankful ako na mas mapapalaki yung pag-reach out ko sa mga nangangailangan,” he said of his new role.
For this purpose, the Kapuso actor will undergo the necessary training and briefing for disaster risk reduction at the head office of the humanitarian organization so he can impart the knowledge to his fellow youth, especially in minimizing the effect of disasters caused by natural calamities.
“First, alam natin na sobrang lakas ng social media ngayon. Yung mga social media post, malaking tulong yun. Siyempre hindi lang yun, kailangan makita nila na ginagawa mo talaga. So I will be very hands-on sa mga gagawin naming operations,” he averred.
Miguel will also support children in need through the organization’s Sponsor A Child Program.
Present during the contract signing were GMA Senior Assistant Vice President for Alternative Productions Gigi Santiago-Lara, GMA Artist Center Senior Talent Manager Vic Del Rosario, World Vision Resource Development Director Jun Godornes, and National Director of World Vision in the Philippines Rommel Fuerte.

Considered GMA Network’s Prince of Primetime, Tanfelix was recognized as Best Actor in a Leading Role for the Philippines in his remarkable portrayal in “Kambal, Karibal” by the Asian Academy Creative Awards.
The best among other national winners from Singapore, India, Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia and Japan will be known either of December 6 or 7 in the ceremonies held at Capitol Theater in Singapore.
