CCP to launch ‘Ani 40’ literary journal

AS part of its celebration of October as National Indigenous People’s Month, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), through its Intertextual Division, will launch its Ani 40: Katutubo literary journal at the state-run arts complex’s Silangan Hall in Pasay City on October 26.

A total of 131 writers and 189 works in Filipino, Meranaw, Ilokano, Akeanon, Bikol, Bikol-Naga, Chavacano and Kinaray-a are featured in Ani 40, edited by award-winning writer Herminio S. Beltran Jr.

A special section edited by Marawi State University professor Almayrah Abbas Tiburon, titled “Antolohiyang Marawi,” is included in the journal. It gathers the works of residents of Lanao del Sur province’s Marawi City who survived the months-long siege involving government forces and the Islamic State-inspired Maute Group that began on May 23, 2017.

The authors featured in Ani 40 include Asral M. Abbas, Lylee Norah M. Abdel Gafur, Lualhati Abreu, Tilde Acuña, Raquel Alawi, Rebekah Marohombsar Alawi, Caroline Albarando, Noramera D. The journal’s cover features Marthin Anthony Millado’s digital vector art showing Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan awardee Yabing Masalon Dulo of the B’laan community.

Ani 40 book will be sold at a discounted price on Friday.
