Before they took to the runway of Give Back A Charity Fashion Gala, the visiting Miss Universe contingent made a stop earlier in the day at the newest outlet of giant fastfood chain Jollibee in Pasay City.
Located at Biopolis Building along Macapagal Boulevard, the visit to the “Bee” was part of the group’s outreach activities, as they shared lunch with the children of Kanlungan sa Er-Ma Ministry.
Kanlungan sa Er-Ma Ministry is a non-profit organization based in Malate, Manila providing shelter, protection, rehabilitation and education for the city’s street children.
“It’s wonderful to be back in the Philippines for the second time this year, and to be welcomed by the familiar hospitality of the Filipinos,” said Miss Universe Organization president Paula Shugart.

“Our first visit to Jollibee, where we indulged in the locals’ kindness, laughter—not to mention the unforgettable taste of Chickenjoy—left us with a very heartwarming experience,” she continued. “There is no doubt that we will partner with Jollibee again in the future, just as we visited today to spread holiday cheer to children and brighten up their day.”
During the fun lunch, event host Christine Jacob Sandejas challenged Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters to mutter “Langhap Sarap,” which she gamely and perfectly delivered to the delight of the restaurant staff, members of media and national titleholders, among other guests.
Besides the famous fried chicken, the beauties enjoyed the very Filipino Peach Mango Pie, and the chain’s trademark sweet party spaghetti signature burgers.
As Christmas gifts, the beauty queens distributed huggable pillows to the children before they left, equally enjoying their “big sister” experience.
Jollibee Philippines president JJ Alano and other senior officials of the company welcomed their very special guests that afternoon, eager to offer them a bite of “joy.”
