In line with its vision of ensuring that arts and culture projects across the country and from the various sectors are funded by the country’s de facto Ministry of Culture, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) calls for proposals for its 2017 grants, now with more specific guidelines that cut across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, as well as project titles that fall under two categories.
Under the first category falls projects conceptualized based on identified needs of given localities for which specific outputs and deliverables are defined by the agency. Under the second category falls projects conceptualized by proponents based on the concerns, priorities and outcomes detailed in the NCCA Project Brief.
With decentralization as a critical part of its mandate, the 2017 proposals are also distributed according to island-clusters of the sites covered by the proposed projects, with 51 project sites for Luzon, 91 projects sites for the Visayas, and 31 project sites for NCR. Mindanao will have the most number of project sites at 98.
Banner projects for each island cluster that seek widest participation are the Luzon Culture Congress and Festival, the Mindanao Summit on Culture and Arts, the Visayas Arts Festival and Congress, and the national level Cinema Rehiyon Film Festival.
With the current leadership of chairman Felipe de Leon Jr. and OIC-executive director Adelina Suemith, the NCCA continues to work towards fulfilling its mandate of preserving, developing, and promoting Philippine arts and culture by giving financial and technical assistance to arts and cultural projects, that also include projects in heritage and conservation, education, cultural mapping, and IP cultures.
Filipino individuals, indigenous peoples’ groups, LGUs, civil society organizations, government agencies, state universities and colleges, and public schools are all encouraged to send project proposals for the NCCA’s consideration.
Project briefs as well as guidelines and requirements may be accessed via the NCCA website, www.ncca.gov.ph.
Deadline of submissions of letters of intent and proposals is on September 30.
