Bulwagan at Juan Luna at the CCP
The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) have announced their individual calls for exhibit proposals for the use of national galleries. The NCCA Gallery is on the first floor of the NCCA Building in Intramuros Manila, and the CCP art venues are at the Cultural Center in Pasay.
Artists, curators, non-commercial art organizations and institutions are invited to submit proposals for the 2017 Venue Grant Program of the Visual Artists and Museum Division (VAMD) of the CCP, with the different venues at the cultural center up for grabs.
These venues include the Pasilyo Carlos V. Francisco (Little Theater Lobby), the Pasilyo Vicente Manansala (2F Hallway Gallery), the Pasilyo Guillermo Tolentino (3F Hallway Gallery), the Bulwagang Fernando Amorsolo (Small Gallery), and the Pasilyo Victorio Edades (4F Hallway Gallery). Proposals are also welcome for the outdoor sites and alternative spaces within the CCP complex. Floor plans for the venues are available upon request.

The VAMD requires an exhibit concept, preliminary studies, and physical and logistical requirements of presentation. The proponent artist or organization must also submit background information about the individual or organization, documentation of previous works, exhibitions, write-ups, and press releases. Proponents might be asked by the VAMD for additional information on the project, and could also decide to collaborate with the proponent on the project.
The NCCA meanwhile, as the de facto Ministry of Culture is mandated to provide a venue for artists who seek a site for their art exhibitions. The NCCA Gallery is at the lobby of the NCCA building, and is a space for the marginalized artist who might not have access or opportunity to exhibit in a major venue in Manila. As a joint initiative of the National Committee on Art Galleries (NCAG) and the National Committee on Visual Arts (NCVA), the NCCA Gallery is a space for both young emerging artists as well as established artists.

A major part of the proposal for the NCCA Gallery is a Curatorial Brief or Full Exhibition Plan that contains the description and summary of the exhibition, and how the space will be utilized. The proponent’s portfolio as well as a cover page are also required for submission. All details are on the NCCA website at ncca.gov.ph. The NCCA Gallery is calling for exhibit proposals for its February to December 2017 Calendar.
The CCP venues proposals may be sent to ccp.vamd@gmail.com. The deadline for the CCP Exhibit Proposals is on September 30. The deadline for the NCCA Gallery Exhibit Proposals is on October 29.
