From romance pocketbooks to film

In April 2016, Precious Pages Corp., publishers of Precious Hearts Romances, called on amateur filmmakers to pick a Precious Hearts story that they wish to transform into a unique, out-of-the-box film, without sacrificing the romance that these romance novellas are famous for.

Four months after, the five chosen filmmakers plus a wild card entry, have produced their films and are now vying for the Precious Pelikula Filmmaking Competition prizes. First place will win P100,000, with second and third place winning P50,000 and P25,000 respectively.

The five filmmakers and their films are: Fallin’ For You by Heidi Colette, adopted by Marco Mata of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila; Her Own Brand of Hero by Sofia, adopoted by Ian Abaya of Asian Pacific Film Institure; Dreams Cafe 4: Dream Master by Angel Bautista, adopted by Paolo Pasucal of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila; Mga Apo Ni Rustica: The Girl in His Arms by Rose Tan, adopted by Miguel Potestades of Collosus Films; Me, Myself and Peregrin by Jamie Black, adopted by Richmond Cadsawan of Far Eastern University; and Kensi’s Unconventional Love.

Precious Hearts Romances is one of the longest running pocketbook romances in the country, and the first to hold a competition such as this.
