Industry leaders feted in new book

Some of the country’s top corporate executives and management experts graced the launch of Anvil Publishing’s latest title, Winning: Management Lessons Outside the Classroom, a compilation of inspirational stories about and by the members of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP).

Held at the Podium Atrium in Ortigas Center, Winning, as edited by Jessica Zafra, highlights inspirational stories on leadership traits and management practices of 38 MAP Management Man of the Year awardees that are worth emulating by future leaders and managers. It is a compilation of profiles and lessons, not in formal lectures, from the subjects who gathered them in the course of their professional careers.

The book features the stories and lessons from Henry Sy, Sr., Tony Aquino, Manny Pangilinan, Juan B. Santos, Henry Brimo, Raul Concepcion, Dante Santos, Jose M. Soriano, Jesus Tambunting, Tony Tan Caktiong, Roberto Villanueva, Alfonso Yuchengco, Cesar Buenaventura, Edgar Chua, Jose Cuisia, Oscar Hidalgo, Washington Sycip, George S.K. Ty, Rafael Buenaventura, Albert del Rosario, Jesus Estanislao, Jose Fernandez, Delfin Lazaro, Rizalino Navarro, Vicente Paterno, Gabriel Singson, Cesar Virata, Lilia De Lima, David Consunji, Ramon del Rosario, Jaime Ongpin, Geronimo Velasco, Jaime Zobel, Erramon Aboitiz, Ramon del Rosario, Jr., Oscar Lopez, Aurelio Montinola, and Jaime Augusto Zobel.

The book launch, a joint project of SM and Anvil Publishing, saw Winning’s featured subjects like Cesar Virata, Corporate Vice Chair of RCBC; Jesus Tambunting, Chairman of Planters Development Bank; lawyer Lilia De Lima, Director General of Philippine Economic Zone Authority; Juan B. Santos, Chairman of Social Security System; and Tony Aquino, Director of Ayala Land, Inc.

Among the event’s notable guests were businessmen and corporate executives Francisco “Popoy” del Rosario, Independent director of Metrobank; Javier “JJ” Calero of Global Executive Solutions Group; Dr. Karen De Leon, President of Misamis University; Goody Hernandez, Executive Director of Asian Development Bank; Sherisa “Baby” Nuesa, President and Director of ALFM Mutual Funds; Donald Lim, Chief Digital Officer of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation; and Vicki Nañagas, Executive Director of Asia Pacific College.
